Parents Taking ACTION (PTA)

Picture
Any parent who has a child enrolled for the 2011-2012 school year is automatically a member of the PTA.  The PTA is vital to the success of St. Patrick and we encourage interested and qualified members of the PTA to become part of the Board.
Please consider joining the Board.

Who We Are

The Parents Taking Action Board serves as a liaison between the school, the faculty, and the parents.  It is a harmonious and welcoming partnership that actively addresses any issues concerning the students.  The PTA Board communicates with the faculty and parents.  The PTA Board works together with the faculty and parents to provide a fun place for students.  In addition, they help with fund-raisers to support the school financially and to improve the school in any way that will benefit the students.

What We Do

We discuss current events at the school.

We address any faculty concerns, including issues or suggestions.

We present any issues or suggestions raised by parents at the weekly staff meeting.

We hold fund-raisers to support the school’s needs and to provide fun events for our students, parents, school staff and community.

We prepare the agenda for the parent meetings and ensure that parents receive updates on all current topics/issues.

Each Board member will lead one of the PTA sponsored events.

How long do I serve?

PTA Board members serve for one school year, from August to June.

What positions are open and what are the responsibilities

(Two positions) The president and vice president share the responsibilities of overseeing the smooth operation of the PTA.  Their duties include arranging the monthly meetings, preparing the agendas, reviewing the agendas with the principal, addressing issues or concerns from the faculty and parents, providing support to the event leaders, working towards completing projects, providing feedback to the parents, and handling any other appropriate duties, as needed.

The secretary is responsible for taking minutes at each PTA meeting.  The minutes are forwarded to the principal, distributed in the Wednesday school envelope, and posted on the school website.

The treasurer is responsible for keeping records of all funds generated and expensed in the PTA fund.  This information is then reviewed at the PTA meetings.  During events, he/she works as banker to keep track of cash in and out.

The publicist is responsible for promoting the PTA meetings and sponsored events held throughout the year in an effort to increase participation and awareness of the school.

The athletic assistant is responsible for working closely with the school coaches to promote the athletic programs and to insure all sports uniforms are ordered in a timely manner.

(Eleven positions) Room representatives are responsible for representing their grade (preschool  through eighth) and working closely with their grade teacher to help with classroom needs, to call parents as needed, to locate volunteers for class trips, etc., and to bring class needs to the attention of the room representative coordinator. (These representatives are only required to attend the PTA meetings, not the PTA Board meetings.)

The room representatives coordinator is responsible for representing the room representatives on the Board.

The success of the PTA impacts your child’s educational experience.
